The Phantom Ranch deep within the Grand Canyon National Park is the most popular location for visitors wishing to experience the "bottom of the canyon" and one of their most memorable outdoor adventure weekends.
We hike down either the Bright Angel Trail or the adjacent South Kaibab Trail, cross the roaring Colorado River on an extension bridge and camp at the lovely Bright Angel Campground.
As our guide prepares a nutritious dinner you can wander down to the riverbank and maybe spot a raft tour floating by or a rainbow trout breaking the surface.
The history of the canyon is so very interesting, and our guide will certainly have some tales to tell.
We camp at the famous Indian Gardens the second night where a large artesian spring gushes directly from the canyon wall.
When standing on the top and gazing back down into canyon below, you can already feel exhilaration of knowing you were all the way down there, a wonderful accomplishment.
