Day 1 - We meet you begin in Williams, Arizona as you board the Grand Canyon Railway. Your Discovery Treks guide will greet you at the depot in Grand Canyon Village on arrival and lead you to the Bright Angel trailhead for the 4.5 mile hike. We begin down the Bright Angel Trailhead for a 4.5 mile hike. The trail descends over 4,800 feet down to the canyon floor of this spectacular gorge. We will be stopping at about 3,000 feet below the rim at Indian Gardens. You will be carrying a backpack weighing approximately 35 lbs. It will contain your personal belongings and the food and camping gear we provide.

Our expert guide will interpret the various rock layers for you during the descent in which the age of the earth is clearly outlined. The Grand Canyon is one of the very few places in the world where you can see rock layers that age back to over two billion years old, half the age of the earth!

Day 2 (If on the two-night trek) You awaken to the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast being prepared by your guide. Then we are off to wind down the Devil's Corkscrew, a series of exhilarating switchbacks and then on to the Colorado River. We cross the extension bridge to the north side and arrive at the Bright Angel Campsite. We will enjoy a deli lunch on the Canyon floor where you and your guide will select some unique areas to explore before enjoying the hike back to our Indian Gardens campsite.

Day 2 (If on the one-night trek) or Day 3 (If on the two-night trek) - We're up early for a nutritious breakfast before heading to the rim and the Grand Canyon Village.  Once back at the trailhead, take a last look at the Canyon's vastness while enjoying a deli lunch.  A quick souvenir stop or two and then on the road back to Flagstaff by mid-afternoon.

For this trip, we include coach class Grand Canyon Railway tickets, professional backcountry guides, all necessary gear including pro-quality backpacks, tents, sleeping bag systems, Therm-a-rest mattresses, camp meals prepared by our guides, permits and camping  fees. Please read the "What to Bring Checklist" so you will have all you need with you. Space on this trip is limited so it is important to reserve well in advance. A deposit of $350.00 will hold your space and final payment is due 60 days before travel. We recommend trip insurance to protect your financial investment.

If you have any questions please call or email us. We look forward to providing you a lifetime adventure!
