Q: What is included in the tour cost?

A:

  • All permits and fees
  • A certified wilderness guide
  • All necessary gear (backpacks, trekking poles, tents, sleeping bags, air mats, pillows)
  • All meals and snacks from lunch on day one to lunch on the last day of the tour
  • Transportation to and from designated pickup locations
  • Pack animal support for Havasu Falls

Q: Where should I stay the night before my tour?

A: Please refer to our Helpful Info page for information on where to stay before your tour, area hotels, rental car options and airport information.


Q: Where should I leave my car/luggage while on the tour?

A: Most area hotels will allow you to store your vehicle and luggage at the hotel while away on the tour. If you are staying at a hotel not listed on our website you will want to contact them to be sure you may leave your car while we are gone.


Q: What will the weather be like?

A: Please refer to our Helpful info page for the area weather.


Q: Can you accommodate certain dietary restrictions?

A: Yes. Please let us know of your dietary needs on your trip information sheet you will receive after booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.


Q: Do I need to have prior backpacking/hiking experience to go on a Discovery Treks Tour?

A: Prior hiking or backpacking experience is not required, but please be aware that most of our hiking tours can be physically demanding. The better shape you are in the more you will enjoy your tour. We strongly encourage you to begin training for your hike several weeks before your departure date. Please give us a call if you have any questions regarding how to train for your hike. Our specialists can help you determine which of our tours is right for you and your group.


Q: What equipment do I need to bring?

A: Discovery Treks provides all necessary hiking and camping equipment like backpacks, trekking poles, tents, sleeping bags, airmats etc. You will be responsible for bringing your own clothing items and toiletries. Sturdy, well broken in hiking footwear is a must for all of our hiking tours. You will receive a trip packet after booking that will have a detailed pack list for what you should bring with you.


Q: What is the average group size?

A: Generally we send one guide for every 6 clients. If there are more than 6 participants on the tour we will send multiple guides. Please give us a call to inquire about private tour options.


Q: How far in advance do I need to make reservations?

A: We recommend booking 6 months in advance to secure the exact dates and itinerary that you want. We welcome last minute inquiries though and will do our best to accommodate you!


Q: What is your cancelation policy?

A: Please see our Terms and Conditions for our cancellation policy. We recommend travel insurance to protect your investment, should you need to cancel.
